INTERIOR SAVINGS UNPLUG & PLAY FAMILY LITERACY WEEK — 2020 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Support literacy in the Nicola Valley by donating a new or gently used book to the Bright Red Bookshelf program. Bring a book to the Cents home game Sunday, January 25th, to any of the following events, or to the Interior Savings Credit Union branch. (Ongoing donations are accepted at the Community Policing Office. Call 250.378.3955 for hours of operation.)

 

Saturday, January 25th

  • 7PM – Cents Home Game – Regular Admission – Bring a new or gently used book to donate to the Interior Savings Unplug & Play book-drive for the Bright Red Bookshelves. Join in the intermission fun & enter to win a family literacy gift basket.

 

Sunday, January 26th 

  • 10AM to 4PM – Public Swim at the NV Aquatic Centre – Regular Admission.
  • 5:15-6:15PM – FREE Public Skating – Nicola Valley Memorial Arena – Helmets strongly recommended.

 

Monday, January 27th

  • 1-3PM – Healthy Beginnings – Merritt Civic Centre – 0-6 w caregiver – FREE – Play, songs, crafts & snack.
  • 1-3PM – Come Read With Me – Merritt Bench Elementary – Grade 1 Parents/Caregivers learn reading strategies to use at home with their children.

  • 6:45-7:45PM – FREE Public Skating – Nicola Valley Memorial Arena – Helmets strongly recommended.

 

Tuesday, January 28th

  • 10AM-NOON – FREE Swim – 0-6 yrs w caregiver. Caregivers & children swim for free.
  • 1-2:30PM – Come Read With Me – Collettville  Elementary – Grade 1 Parents/Caregivers learn reading strategies to use at home with their children.

  • 3:30-4:30PM – After School Club – Merritt Library – Games, crafts, puzzles and books!
  • 4-8PM – Feel the Beat – 2975 Clapperton Ave – FREE – An open invitation to all ages, all heritage and all peoples to learn and grow in Culture. Play literacy games from 4-5PM, enjoy a Potluck Dinner from 5-5:30PM and participate in an interactive Drum and Rhythm Circle from 6-7PM. (Please bring your own water bottle to minimize waste.)

 

Wednesday, January 29th

  • 10-10:30AM – Storytime – Merritt Library – 0-5 yrs w caregiver – FREE – Stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes & fun.
  • 3:30-4:30PM – Physical Literacy – Merritt Library – FREE – Fun and games for all ages.
  • 1:15-2:45PM – Come Read With Me – Diamond Vale Elementary – Grade 1 Parents/Caregivers learn reading strategies to use at home with their children.

Thursday, January 30th 

  • 1-2:30PM – Come Read With Me – Nicola Canford Elementary – Grade 1 Parents/Caregivers learn reading strategies to use at home with their children.

  • 3-5PM – Merritt Art Gallery – Art Literacy at the Merritt Art Gallery – Ages K-Pre-teen – Hands-on creative activities led by the Nicola Valley Arts Council.
  • 7-9PM – Merritt Art Gallery – Art Literacy at the Merritt Art Gallery –  Add Ages Teen-Adult – Hands-on creative activities led by the Nicola Valley Arts Council.

 

Friday, January 31st

  • 6:15PM – Doors Open – 6:30 – Showtime – Ali K.Zam Family Magic Show – Civic Centre – Leif David’s international award winning act, showcasing his specialty in close-up and stage magic, has been amazing audiences for over 24 years. His family-friendly show features clean comedy and tons of audience participation, making the audience volunteers the stars of the show!
