Welcome to Literacy Merritt |
Once literacy was only reading and writing, but now there are many literacies - math skills, technical skills, social understanding, and cultural knowledge. These help us to understand, communicate and work effectively in our society. Literacy is a lifelong experience in constant learning.
Many local programs are providing support for literacy in Merritt. The main menu lists these program by the age or special needs of their clientele.
We envision that literacy will mean that Merritt is a healthy and vibrant community where we have the literacy skills, knowledge, and support to attain and sustain our goals. Literacy Merritt was initiated through the 2010 Literacy Now Communities program.
